After the participation in the 3rd edition of Arte in Nuvola, the international fair of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rome (24-26 November, 2023), hosted in Massimiliano Fuksas' Nuvola, the Ministry of Culture is preparing to participate in other important contemporary art fairs. The events in question could be, in addition to the 2024 edition of the Rome fair, also Artissima, staged from 1 to 3 November 2024 at the Oval Lingotto in Turin, and miart, the modern and contemporary art fair to be held from 4 to 6 April 2025 at the Allianz MiCo in Pavilion 3 in Milan. The MiC, therefore, after presenting two separate projects at the Roman kermesse: one dedicated to "Palma Bucarelli: the art of fashion" thanks to the Boncompagni Ludovisi Museum and the videos granted by the Archivio Luce, and the other to the "In Restauro" project realised by the Istituto Centrale per il Restauro, in collaboration with the MAXXI, could bring other projects to contemporary venues also with the active contribution of the General Directorate for Contemporary Creativity. The will and the projects are already in the pipeline, however to have the definitive confirmation we will have to wait for the appointment of the heads of departments expected from 18 May, the date of the entry into force of the Regulation that substantially reorganises the structure of the department of via del Collegio Romano.

The We Make Future

.

Over the past four years, the MiC has promoted its projects at trade fairs that are different and innovative from the usual sector fairs, turning its attention to audiences other than scholars and experts in the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage. This was the case, for instance, in the recent setting of the We Make Future (13-15 June 2024, Bologna), the fair on digital culture and social innovation, where the MiC presented 22 projects implemented by central institutes, museums, state archives, archaeological parks, libraries, secretariats and regional museum directorates. Many noteworthy ones included the advancement of the 'Musei Italiani' ticketing app, developed by the Direzione Generale Musei, which currently includes about 400 state museums of the National Museum System and has implemented accessibility functions, and the Con-Tatto project, promoted by the Piedmont Regional Museums Directorate, concerning immersive VR models of environments and works of art in Palazzo Carignano to enable people with autism spectrum disorder to take a virtual reality tour. Prior to Bologna, MiC had participated in other trade fairs with a different slant, such as Lucca Comics & Games (1-5 November, Lucca), Didacta Italia (20-22 March 2024, Florence) and Comicon (25-28 April 2024, Naples) attracting an audience of young people, digital creatives and the simply curious.
