2023 went well, very well, and this year we can do better. That's what Veneto can put on the scoreboard based on the first figures for the first quarter of 2024, when arrivals and presences record double-digit growth compared to the same period in 2023. Between January and March, arrivals are up 12% while presences are up 12.6%, or 2,968,562 arrivals and 7,394,995 presences. This is what the data from Confindustria Veneto Est reveal, while in Eastern Veneto, according to data from the Veneto Region, there were 1,891,138 arrivals (+20.5% compared to the same period in 2023) and 4,400,245 overnight stays (+11.5%), surpassing the figures for 2019 with +7.8% for arrivals and +6.1% for overnight stays. The Veneto tourism figures for the whole of 2023 were 21 million arrivals, of which almost 13.6 million in Veneto East, and 71.9 million overnight stays, of which 46.9 million in Veneto East. A performance in which the increases in arrivals in cities of art (+22.7%) and mountains (+15.3%) stand out, followed by spas (+10.2%), lakes (+8.8%) and the sea (+7.6%). Beach tourism came out on top with almost 26 million presences, followed by cities of art (24.5 million), lake (14 million), mountains (4.5 million) and spas (2.8 million).

For 2024, the outlook is positive with a growth in international arrivals and presences with 65.8 million arrivals, +2.1%; 266.1 million presences, +1.1% and in a leading Bel Paese region such as Veneto, with growing flows also from countries such as Poland and the Czech Republic alongside consolidated flows from the United States, Germany, France and Austria.

"In Venice, for example, I can testify that in these first months of application, the introduction of the entrance ticket has not had any negative impact on hotels and their guests," commented Salvatore Pisani, president of the Tourism and Culture Group ofConfindustria Veneto Est. "The room occupancy figures as at 31 May are in line with last year's records, with more than 63% on average from January to May. In order to protect the city, we also support the introduction of the CIN (National Indicative Code) to regulate short-term rentals and avoid unfair competition. Tourism entrepreneurs who invest and improve the quality of their offer must be rewarded. In Venice many important structures are doing this, so much so that since the beginning of the year we have recorded an increase in average revenue per room of +16%. And let's remember that Venice has always been an attractor of visitors for the entire Veneto region'.
