Otello

Opening the Festival with Verdi's penultimate opera means betting on 'Esultate!': everyone knows this in Parma, land of melomaniacs.
But the ringing entrance of the Italian-tinged tenor, Fabio Sartori, goes hand in hand with a more global interest.
Roberto Abbado in fact debuts the critical edition of the score at the Regio; the cast includes Mariangela Sicilia, Desdemona, and Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar, Jago, a new star baritone; and Tiezzi's direction has Margherita Palli's sets and Giovanna Buzzi's costumes.

La Lady è Marily Santoro

Macbeth

Of the three stages dedicated to Verdi-Shakespeare, this is the most experimental: because the first version of Macbeth is offered, that of 1847 for the Pergola in Florence, bringing it back to the intimate and ideal dimension of the little theatre in Busseto. Innovative the score, then, fresh the performers today.
From director Manuel Renga, to the Ogi, the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana led by Lanzillotta. The protagonist is Vito Priante, alternating with Andrea Borghini. The Lady is Marily Santoro, alternating with Maria Cristina Bellantuomo.

Recognition

.

This is the section dedicated to the reverberations of Verdi's music on the present: under the title Ramificazioni it brings together the reflections in a poker of different proposals, which open with the Timon Études by Luca Francesconi, continuing with Ouverture by the composer Argentinian Fernando Strasnoy and 89 Seconds toMidnight by Maria Vincenza Cabizza included in the project Gradus in Scena by Reggio Parma Festival, to arrive in Disdemona

by Lenz Foundation.

Falstaff

It will be Misha Kiria as the new Sir John, the pot-bellied protagonist of Verdi's extreme masterpiece, mirrored in disenchantment and age, exactly eighty years since the title's debut at La Scala in 1893. Alongside the mighty Georgian baritone sing the quartet of the sprightly Windsor ladies, Roberta Mantegna, Caterina Piva, Teresa Iervolino and Giuliana Gianfaldoni, Alessandro Luongo's Ford and Dave Monaco's Fenton.
The successful performance by Jacopo Spirei is resumed. Great expectations for Michele Spotti's podium.

Gala Verdiano

The celebrations on Verdi's birthday, anniversary number 212, conclude with an important Gala concert, where the third act respectively of Luisa Miller and Rigoletto, two works that are chronologically contiguous and thematically similar, will be performed.
Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar plays the dual central role of the father, while Paolo Carignani conducts the Filarmonica Toscanini, with Martino Faggiani indispensably preparing, here and in the other titles on the bill, the characteristic Teatro Regio Chorus.

Requiem Mass

.

It is entrusted to Robert Treviño, one of the most authoritative American batons of the last generation, to conduct the Filarmonica Toscanini in the sacred score, composed by Verdi in 1874, after the death of Manzoni, and over time become one of the most performed compositions, exemplary

for the theatrical force of the Latin text, here delivered to a fine quartet of emerging and established voices, with Marta Torbidoni, Valentina Pernòzzoli, Galeano Salas and Michele Pertusi. Here too, the Regio Chorus, prepared by Faggiani, is fundamental.
