The secret of health lies in the vibrational music of cells

Every tissue in the body has its own electromagnetic frequency, which is like its own internal soundtrack. Biophysics and bioengineering are now able to measure it and try to reproduce it.

That music has a relaxing effect on the human brain is proven by several neuroscientific studies that have analysed the impact of sound on emotions, stress, memory and our cognitive and motor functions. In the wellness field, playlists dedicated to relaxation are in common use, but even psychiatry has long been integrating the treatment of certain pathologies with music therapy. "Today, biophysics and bioengineering are opening up interesting lines of research into the effects that music can have not only on the mind, but also on cells". Says Stefania Doria, psychiatrist and acupuncturist, director of the Studio Medico Quantico in Milan. 'While these are still pioneering studies, which may have an important impact on our health in the future, what we do know today is that every cell, every tissue in the body has its own electromagnetic frequency: it is as if each of us had a unique, personal and very special inner soundtrack. Thanks to new bioengineering technologies, combined with quantum physics, we are now able to measure it'.

This is why Stefania Doria, who is scientific advisor to the Lefay Resorts & Residences Group, has introduced a personalised vibrational music path into the wellness programmes of the group's two Eco Spas - one on Lake Garda, in Gargnano, and one in the Dolomites, in Madonna di Campiglio -.

Let it be is the latest programme inaugurated in 2025 by Lefay and includes a purifying scrub massage, a ritual for conscious breathing, Il Volo dell'Angelo which is a visualisation treatment guided by a narrator's voice, a hike in search of nature's fragrances and then a hands-on cooking session in the kitchen to prepare gourmet dishes. To finish, a Water Shiatsu session in a salt lake. "For this programme, as for all the others, there is a brand new soundtrack created exclusively for Lefay Spa," explains Doria. "According to science, noise is generally detrimental to health and has negative effects on sleep, the endocrine system and the cardiovascular, intestinal and respiratory systems. Specific frequencies and appropriately calibrated music can restore the biophysical balance, with a positive effect on the brain and heart, improving the mood and activating the production of endorphins: on the one hand, music amplifies the effect of the treatments, on the other hand, it activates parts of the mind and memory with ancient memories and sensations'. The soundtrack is differentiated into three different channels, applied according to the pathway. "We used different beneficial hertz," the psychiatrist continues. "For deep relaxation, our team of experts composed a melody tuned to the frequencies of multiples of 8, and in particular to the so-called Schumann frequency, the Earth resonance which, being close to the alpha rhythm of the brain, induces a state of calm. For revitalisation and more dynamic massages, on the other hand, we used alpha and beta waves. Finally, for stress reduction, we tuned to frequencies between 416 and 396 hertz, to activate a kind of inner cleansing, eliminating toxins'. In addition to the standard path, the real novelty is the possibility of recording a customised soundtrack, which corresponds to the frequencies of our organs. "There is a rather complex device that records the patient's voice - or rather in particular the sound of his or her vocals - to return the inner frequencies, which change and modify according to the level of stress," Doria points out. "Recording them at the end of a wellness course can be useful: they are transformed with the help of a sound engineer into a pleasant sound on an Mp4 format. Listening to them again when you go back home, to your usual activities, can also help to restore balance after a particularly tiring day at work or in situations of great tension".
