The third edition of the Lazio Region’s ‘Cultural School Tourism’ call for proposals is now open
The Italian Historic Houses Association and Fondazione Roma are joining forces to introduce younger generations to Italy’s historical, artistic and cultural heritage. Applications from schools are open until 31 December; each school may be eligible for a grant of up to 1,160 euros
The Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane ETS, in collaboration with Fondazione Roma, presents the third edition of the ‘Cultural School Tourism’ call for applications, aimed at state primary and secondary schools in the Lazio Region. The project has been created to introduce the younger generation to the region’s historical, artistic and cultural heritage and to strengthen their soft skills, offering pupils the opportunity to engage directly with the region’s historic houses. This initiative transforms these places of history, art, architecture and memory into tools for learning, participation and awareness.
Financial contribution to be paid to each institution
Thanks to the support of Fondazione Roma, the call for applications provides for a grant of up to 1,160 euros for each school, intended to support the organisation of educational visits. The grant may cover, amongst other things, expenses relating to transport, admission fees, educational workshops and specialist guides. Grants will be awarded to the first 50 schools to submit an application, which must be sent by 31 December 2026. The ranking list will be published on ADSI’s official website.
Promotion and enhancement of historic houses
Through this project, A.D.S.I. ETS reaffirms its commitment to promoting awareness of our historical, artistic and cultural heritage amongst the younger generations and to showcasing historic residences as a vital resource for local areas, particularly in more remote regions, where they serve as true bastions of culture and beauty, capable of driving social and economic development.
First-hand experience of the places
“An understanding of cultural heritage is also built through direct experience of the places that preserve our collective memory. Historic houses represent a widespread heritage that can become a powerful educational tool, capable of bringing young people closer to the culture and history of their local areas. Through this initiative, we aim to offer students the opportunity to experience these places first-hand. The continuity of the project confirms the value of an initiative which, thanks to our collaboration with Fondazione Roma, helps to forge a stronger bond between the younger generations and our cultural heritage,” says Maria Pace Odescalchi, National President of the Associazione Dimore Storiche Italiane ETS.
Visits to the centre of learning opportunities
‘Through the “Cultural School Tourism” project, Fondazione Roma is renewing its commitment alongside ADSI in support of schools in Lazio and the younger generation. Supporting this initiative means offering primary and secondary school pupils a real opportunity to experience first-hand the wonder and value of our historical, artistic and architectural heritage. Through the direct experience of visiting the historic residences in our region, we aim to stimulate their curiosity, strengthen their sense of belonging to the local area and make culture a heritage that is truly accessible to all,” says Franco Parasassi, President of Fondazione Roma.
