There are around ten (private) islands for sale in Italia

In the Stagnone Lagoon, in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the coast of Sicily, the island of Santa Maria is on the market for 15 million euros. The island features a 460-square-metre villa and a 16th-century chapel. An additional residence for the caretakers of Santa Maria is situated next to an animal sanctuary. Electricity is supplied to all the buildings by an on-site generator. In Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in the Grado Lagoon, the Isola degli Orbi is on the market for €3 million.

In the waters off Marano, west of Isla Gorgo and Grado, the island of Ravaiarina is for sale at a price of 3 million euros. ‘The property has two distinctive features,’ the listing states, ‘ a restaurant that was once in operation and a collection of specially constructed fish-farming lagoons.”

In Sicily, west of Mondello, Palermo, Isola delle Femmine is up for sale. The price is 1.6 million euros.
“An abandoned watchtower forms the centrepiece of the island, a remnant of the 16th-century defence system that protected Sicily from attacks by pirate ships,” states the accompanying note. “Although currently in ruins, there is potential for a conservative restoration, a process that could pave the way for a private residence or an archaeological museum.”

Priced at 1.5 million euros is the Ottagono San Pietro in the southern Venice Lagoon, off the coast of San Pietro a Volta, Pellestrina. It is one of the five historic octagonal fortified islands built in the southern Venice Lagoon. ‘Situated just off San Pietro a Volta, on the northern tip of Pellestrina,’ notes the accompanying description, ‘this distinctive artificial island covers approximately one-third of a hectare and represents one of the most unusual opportunities for private island ownership currently available in Italia.’ In the northern Venice Lagoon, between Sant’Erasmo, Burano and Torcello, there is also the island of Crevan; the price is available on request only. “Previously marketed internationally as the ‘Fortress of the Venetian Island’,” reads the accompanying note, “the property combines military history with modern residential comfort in one of Italia’s most iconic lagoon settings.Situated at the mouth of the Crevan Canal between Sant’Erasmo, Burano and Torcello, the island enjoys panoramic views of the lagoon whilst remaining just a 20-minute boat ride from Venice and around 25 minutes from Marco Polo Airport’. The price of Isola Ottagono Alberoni, situated in the Venice Lagoon, Venice, is also available on request. It is a historic remnant of the naval fortifications first built in the 1500s.
In Campania, in the Gulf of Naples, off the coast of Torre Annunziata and Castellammare di Stabia, lies the Scoglio di Rovigliano. The price is available on request. ‘Historically known as Petra Herculis – as stated in the explanatory notes – it is a small fortress island in the Gulf of Naples, situated approximately 500 metres off the coast between Torre Annunziata and Castellammare di Stabia. Declared a National Monument in 1925, Rovigliano is protected as an important part of Campania’s maritime heritage.”
