The three paintings by Cézanne, Matisse and Renoir stolen in Parma have been recovered
In total, the estimated value exceeds 9 million euros.
Following a complex investigation, Carabinieri from the Parma Provincial Command and the Cultural Heritage Protection Unit, during searches authorised by the Parma Public Prosecutor’s Office, have recovered the three paintings stolen from the Magnani Rocca Foundation in Mamiano (Parma).
The theft took place during the night of 22–23 March. The items stolen were:
’Tasse et plat de cerises’, pencil and watercolour on white paper, measuring 380 × 490 mm, by the Post-Impressionist artist Paul Cézanne, with an estimated value of 6,000,000 euros;
’Les Poisson’, oil on canvas, 40 x 51.5 cm, by the Impressionist artist Pierre Auguste Renoir, signed and dated ‘Renoir 1917’ in the lower right-hand corner, with an estimated value of approximately 3,000,000 euros;
And ‘Odalisque Sur La Terrasse’, a colour aquatint on paper (Velin d’Arches), measuring 63 x 91 cm in total, by the modernist artist Henri Matisse, with an estimated value of 20,000 euros.
