In the summer of festivals, the music scene can offer very different listeners, while also uncovering a wealth of landscapes. Thus for the Ypsigrock Festival, held in the medieval village of Castelbuono, in the Parco delle Madonìe; which has become a European reference for fans of indie culture. So for Time in Jazz, which takes place in fifteen locations in northern Sardinia, with Berchidda at its centre; and begins with a musical cruise from Livorno to Golfo Aranci. So for Lake Lucerne, or Lake Lucerne, the backdrop of the famous Lucerne Festival, with its great orchestras.
Castelbuono (PA)
.In this medieval village, nestled in the Madonie Park an hour and a half from Palermo and about ten kilometres from the beaches of Cefalù, is the 27th edition of the Ypsigrock Festival, from 8 to 11 August. Castelbuono's ancient Byzantine name was Ypsigro ('cool place'); the founders were fans of the indie-rock/alternative scene: hence the choice of name. It is not a rock event; we think the core of the festival's name is Ypsigro. Instead, it has become a European reference for fans of indie culture, nominated eight times in a row for European Festival Awards. It has had the ability to trigger a unique empathy between the artists and the Ypsigro audience, who discover an unpredictable and unexpected corner of Sicily, far from the usual clichés and more inclined to international cultural models. In the line up: Beach Fossils, one of the most acclaimed bands on the American underground scene; Nation of Language, so eagerly awaited by the ypsini, with their synth pop; the musical eclecticism of rapper Tkay Maidza and the very young dream pop duo No Windows. And then Kae Tempest, Model/Actriz, Julie Byrne, YĪN, Tapir!, Royel Otis, Kimyan Law and Dame Area, Explosions In The Sky, Colapesce Dimartino, Jadu Heart, Bdrmm, Chalk, Heartworms, Fat Dog, Oracle Sisters, Lauren Auder, Egyptian Blue, Laura Grove and Marta Del Grandi.
Berchidda (SS)
.From 8 to 16 August, the thirty-seventh edition of the Time in Jazz festival. Among the artists are Kenny Garrett, Theo Croker, Vinicio Capossela, Nicola Conte, Chiara Civello, Neri Marcorè, Scarlet Rivera, and Lella Costa. Concerts but also exhibitions, book presentations and meetings with authors, activities for children, in the festival directed by jazzman Paolo Fresu. Not only in Berchidda but also in fifteen other locations in the north of Sardinia.
As in every edition, there will be a sea crossing in music, on the 9th from the port of Livorno to that of Golfo Aranci; on board, the brass of Rusty Brass returns. Conclusion on the 16th as usual by moving to the coast, to the Peschiera di San Teodoro. With Paolo Fresu's trumpet, Glauco Venier's piano, and actress Lella Costa, who will perform 'Pinocchio Confidential'.
