Timothée Chalamet ('Marty Supreme')

This is the third nomination for the talented New York actor, who was already unsuccessfully nominated in 2018 for "Call Me By Your Name" and last year for "A Complete Unknown". The competition is strong, but the accolades he received along the way for his performance in "Marty Supreme" made him start in pole position to win the coveted statuette, until a few weeks ago. We speak in the past tense because his recent controversial statements (in particular those against opera and ballet, which he considers to be arts that basically no one cares about anymore) could backfire on him in the Academy jurors' choices as well.
