Claudio Antonelli, deputy editor of 24 Ore NextMed, has been awarded the ‘Caravella del Mediterraneo’ Prize
The award presented at the Mediterranean Journalists’ Festival ‘for the professionalism and strategic vision demonstrated in reporting on the complex economic, geopolitical and security dynamics of the Mediterranean’
Claudio Antonelli, deputy editor of 24 ORE NextMed, received the “Caravella del Mediterraneo” Award, a prize awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves through their contribution to informing the public and fostering understanding of the major issues affecting the Mediterranean region. The award was presented on the evening of 4 September in Otranto as part of the Mediterranean Journalists’ Festival, which concluded after four days of meetings and debates focusing on current international affairs.
This recognition comes at a particularly significant time for the balance and evolution of journalism. Against a backdrop marked by the spread of disinformation, geopolitical conflicts and the profound transformations brought about by artificial intelligence, the Festival celebrated its 18th edition by reaffirming the value of information as an essential tool for understanding and interpreting reality. “The challenge is to uphold the timeless principles of journalism – the reporting of the truth – whilst remaining attuned to the times and current events”, emphasised the patron of the event, Tommaso Forte.
The decision to honour Claudio Antonelli recognises the work he has carried out at the helm of 24 ORE NextMed, the Il Sole 24 ORE Group’s editorial project dedicated to analysing the economic, political and social dynamics of the wider Mediterranean region. This initiative, presented at the Trento Economics Festival in late May, has established itself as a key reference point for in-depth analysis of the transformations affecting the region, fostering dialogue between institutions, businesses, universities and the media.
