(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Uncertainty is the protagonist on the markets, with equities in the doldrums and new records for gold. European stock exchanges, after a weak start, took the path of an upturn only to slow down again in the wake of caution on Wall Street and closed the session in no particular order. In Piazza Affari, the Ftse Mib dropped 0.17%, just above 43,000 points, Paris and Frankfurt were on parity, Amsterdam and Madrid were in the red.
Concerns generated by the political chaos in France and the shutdown in the United States held the headlines. New records for the price of gold, with futures surpassing USD 4,000 an ounce for the first time.
Wall Street down after records

Ibm was also positive after the company announced a strategic partnership with Anthropic to accelerate the development of enterprise-grade artificial intelligence by integrating Anthropic's Claude, one of the world's most powerful large language model (LLM) families, into Ibm's software portfolio.
Paris holds despite crisis, French spread aligns with Italian one
Stopping just above parity is the Cac40 of Paris, despite the uncertainty that opened up after that premier Sebastien Lecornu put his resignation on the table, abandoning the president, Emmanuel Macron. At this point, the opposition is strongly calling for the dissolution of the assembly and thus new presidential elections.
