Tourist guides, the written test of the first national competition on 18 November

The Wednesday 18 November 2025 will be the written test of the first national competition for the qualification of tourist guide, a novelty introduced by the reform approved at the end of 2023 in implementation of one of the objectives of the National Tourism Programme for the tourism. The competition closed in March just under the threshold of 30,000 applications (29,228). Lazio, Campania and Sicilia are the regions with the most applications, 6,058, 5,055 and 2,618 respectively.

The tests will be held in eight cities: Turin (for residents in Piedmont, Valle d'Aosta, Trentino Alto Adige, Lombardy and Liguria), Ferrara (Emilia-Romagna, Umbria, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto), Naples (Campania and Calabria), Rome (Lazio, Tuscany and foreign countries), Chieti (Abruzzo, Marche and Molise), Foggia (Apulia and Basilicata), Catania (Sicily) and Cagliari (Sardinia).

The written test will consist of an eighty-question multiple-choice test to be completed in ninety minutes. Eighteen questions each will be on art history, geography, history, archaeology. Four questions each will be on tourism law, accessibility and inclusivity of the tourism offer, and the discipline of cultural heritage and landscape. 0.50 points will be awarded for each correct answer, 0 points for a no answer and -0.25 points for an incorrect answer. The maximum score is forty points. Those who achieve a minimum score of twenty-five/fortyths will pass the test.

Candidates will be provided with a computer workstation. At the end of the allotted time, the system stops the procedure and captures the answers provided by the candidate up to that point.
