Tour guides, the second certification exam arrives: here are the details
For applications there is time until 19 May
While the selections for the first edition have yet to be concluded (the last orals will be held next week), the new call for entries has been published for the tourist guide qualification exam provided for in the reform approved at the end of 2023. The written tests will be held in June, as told by the Minister of Tourism Gianmarco Mazzi to the tourist guide associations in the first meeting at MiTur since the former undersecretary for Culture took over the post left by Daniela Santanchè.
Registration by 19 May
Law No 190 of 13 December 2023 makes the exercise of the profession of tourist guide conditional on passing a national qualification examination with a written, oral and technical-practical test. After passing the qualifying examination, candidates will be entered in the national list of tourist guides (Engt) established at the Ministry of Tourism. The call for applications was published on 29 April. For the application submission there is time until 19 May. The venue, day and time of the oral test are published on inPA and on the website of the ministry of Tourism at least fifteen days before the date of the test.
Requirements for admission
In order to be admitted to the examination, one must have obtained a secondary school diploma (or other diploma declared equivalent or equivalent by the competent authorities) or a three-year degree or a specialised, magisterial or old-school degree.
The three tests and scores
'The examination for qualification as a tourist guide must ascertain the candidate's professionalism,' reads the announcement. The tests consist of a written test, an oral test and a technical-practical test. A maximum score of 40 points is awarded for each test and the test is deemed passed if the candidate has scored 25 points or more.
The written test is a multiple-choice test on the history of art, geography, history, archaeology, tourism law, accessibility and inclusiveness of the tourism offer, and the discipline of cultural heritage and landscape. Candidates who have obtained a score of 25 points or more in the written test are admitted to the oral test and the technical-practical test.
