A light aircraft has crashed in the Como area; two people are in a critical condition

A small microlight crashed this afternoon, at around 4.30 pm, in the village of Lurate Caccivio, in the province of Como. On board were a 58-year-old Italian man and a 55-year-old Swiss man; both were pulled from the wreckage in serious condition and taken to Niguarda Hospital in Milan.

The plane took off from Locarno, in Switzerland. The causes of the crash are currently unknown. The aircraft crashed in a green area, without injuring anyone else or hitting any houses. Emergency services and the Carabinieri from the Cantù Company arrived at the scene quickly.
