A cap of 5 per cent on commissions for meal vouchers used by employees of private companies. This is the provision of an amendment, signed by Fratelli d'Italia deputy Silvio Giovine, inserted in the DL Concorrenza to achieve the equalisation of commissions on vouchers between public and private. A measure long awaited by the restaurant and catering businesses, more than 170,000 businesses, which accept vouchers that currently pay commissions of up to 20 per cent. The amendment provides for a transitional period of 12 months from the measure's entry into force to give operators time to adapt their existing contracts to the provision. "This amendment gives greater value to the canteen replacement service by removing it from the speculation of commercial logic," comments Aldo Cursano, deputy vice president of Fipe-Confcommercio. Valentina Pellegrini, vice-president of the Pellegrini Group, issuer of meal vouchers, explains that "the conditions and the discount percentage for customers with an existing supply of meal vouchers will necessarily have to be renegotiated. This will give more space to the economic and service value of the voucher. Heavy consequences for the French Edenred active under the Ticket restaurants brand. Yesterday, the title lost 14.65%, closing the day at EUR 29.37 because the measure would have 'an impact on the group's Ebitda in the order of 60 million in 2025 and could reach 120 million,' reads a note from the group.
