Toyota Aygo X Hybrid, what it looks like, how much it costs and how it goes
The full hybrid citycar arrives in dealerships in four versions starting at around 21,000 euro
The first full hybrid city car on the market. There is no better description to describe the Toyota Aygo X hybrid, a model that combines the 100% hybrid technology of the Yaris with the compact dimensions of the Aygo X. Designed and produced in Europe at the Kolin plant in the Czech Republic, in addition to the full hybrid powertrain, it is updated in style compared to the Aygo X on the market and adds the GR version with improved driving dynamics.
New Toyota Aygo X Hybrid, dimensions and interior
Toyota Aygo X Hybrid is a city car in its own right, with a length of 3,776 mm, a width of 1,740 mm and a height of 1,525 mm. The interior gets a facelift thanks to the new 10.5-inch touchscreen in Premium or 9-inch versions. In addition to Apple CarPlay connectivity, Android Auto wireless connectivity arrives on the Toyota Aygo X. When it comes to load capacity, travelling with four people provides 231 litres.
Toyota Aygo X Hev
A Toyota Yaris in the body of an Aygo X. This was the design principle behind the Japanese compact car. The basis of the Aygo X is the GA-B platform of Toyota's Global New Architecture, introduced with the previous model in 2022 and now modified for the new generation. Although the GA-B platform is the same one used on the Yaris, the new Aygo X features a revised rear section. To accommodate the 1.5-litre hybrid engine, the front overhang has been lengthened by 76 mm while preserving the Aygo X's proportions. For the first time in a Toyota, the two battery cell stacks are positioned next to each other across the full width of the floor in a longitudinal layout under the rear seats. In addition to the position of the hybrid battery, its cooling system also features a new layout. The cooling fan, which is usually located directly next to the battery, is now positioned in the part under the rear seat.
Toyota Aygo X hybrid, road test
Driven during a first contact on the streets of Berlin, the Toyota Aygo X hybrid made itself appreciated for the combination of the Tnga platform, dedicated trim on the Gr version and 116 horsepower (+44 hp compared to the current Aygo X) that ensure a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 9.2 seconds and at the same time a declared speed of 130 km/h in electric mode. The CVT gearbox, now free of the typical scooter effect, is also praised. Consumption is decidedly low, with an average of 3.5 litres per 100 kilometres, a figure even better than the 3.7 l/100 homologated Wltp. Emissions are also low, at 85 g/km in the Wltp cycle.
