Toyota: Group global sales down 4.8 per cent in July

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - In July, sales at the Japanese automotive group Toyota Motor fell, affected by declines in China, the United States and the Middle East. In detail, the group reported that global sales fell by 4.8 per cent year-on-year to 856,125 vehicles, whilst production dropped by 2.1 per cent. The 24.3 per cent slump in China dragged sales down, marking the sixth consecutive month of decline. Sales in the United States, Toyota’s main market, fell by 0.8 per cent, whilst in the Middle East they dropped by 44.5 per cent, offsetting the 11.0 per cent increase recorded in Japan. The sharp fall in production in China (-32.7 per cent) and the decline in the United States (-4.0 per cent) reduced overall production volumes, despite the 12.4 per cent increase in Japan.
