to investment to infrastructure, via cruise passengers, revenue and traffic. It is a growth path that characterises Sardinia's ports. The documents approved by the management committee of the AdSp, the system authority of the ports and sea of Sardinia, speak of a positive sign in all sectors.
Financially speaking, the document, which also relates to the last term of President Massimo Deiana (expiring in July), 'registers an increase of about 2 million in current revenues compared to 2023 (+2.65 %) and thus stands at over 71 million 200 thousand euro'. Expenditure is also up, rising by 21.5 % compared to 2023, amounting to just over EUR 39.3 million. As of 31 December 2024, the AdSP closes with an administrative surplus of about 348 million, of which more than 325 million is tied up for the payment of works already in progress. "The available administrative surplus therefore amounts to approximately 23 million, the lowest so far recorded," they stress at the Authority. With regard to the operational and institutional activities carried out, the 2024 annual report photographs a port system in good health".
In the ports of competence of the AdSP (9 in total), in fact, the year closed with approximately 41.7 million tonnes of cargo (1.7% more than in 2023), more than 6.5 million passengers (+5.2%) and just over 684 thousand cruise passengers in transit (+57%).
Then there are the figures for container handling in Cagliari's Canal Port, 'with about 100 thousand Teus recorded in the Mito Srl container compendium, compared to about 55 thousand in 2023 (+77.7 %), to which are added about a further 100 thousand Teus of Grendi and Grimaldi traffic, compared to about 84 thousand in 2023 (+18 %)'.
For Massimo Deiana, AdSp president, "The two final activity and balance sheets approved by the Management Committee confirm the excellent state of health of our Port System". "The year 2024 represented a year of consolidated traffic growth for all the ports under our jurisdiction and the start of an intense season of port infrastructure upgrading," he adds. "A premise for further economic growth for the Authority, which will guarantee safe navigation, with a good crew on board, throughout the next four years.
