Train conductor killed in Bologna: alleged killer detained in the Brescia area
The individual was undocumented and was identified through a special fingerprint comparison system by officers of the Desenzano del Garda police station
He is Marin Jelenik, the 36 year old Croatian, the man stopped by the State Police in the Brescia area and believed to be the killer of Alessandro Ambrosio, the 34 year old train conductor stabbed in the abdomen last night, 5 January, in the car park of the west forecourt of Bologna station in an area reserved for employees. The man, who was in front of the railway station at the time of his arrest, was undocumented and was identified through a special system of fingerprint comparison by the officers of the police station of Desenzano del Garda.
Jelenik, who is homeless and is reportedly already known for causing trouble at railway stations, was identified with the help of cameras. Ambrosio was stabbed to death as he was going to get his car in the car park reserved for railway employees near the central railway station in Bologna, probably caught from behind as he was walking in an alley.
After train conductor's murder, wanted man identified and released
The man wanted for the murder of train conductor Alessandro Ambrosio boarded a regional train from Bologna to Milan after the crime. On board, the man was allegedly harassed and aggressive, even with train staff. He was then reportedly made to get off at Fiorenzuola (Piacenza), shortly before 8pm, to be taken into custody by the police in connection with his behaviour on the train. At that point, the Carabinieri identified him and then released him. No search notes had been issued at that time.
