Christmas with yours, New Year's Eve travelling with whoever you want. Around 11.5 million Italians will be travelling for the upcoming festivities with an average per capita expenditure of 674 euro, up 12% compared to 2023. The preferred destinations range from cities of art to snow-capped mountains and the countryside. This is what a Coldiretti/Ixe' survey reveals, showing a recovery in departures compared to last year, when inflation weighed on the pockets of families. Often it is a long holiday of almost a week, six days to be precise. In particular, 23% of holidaymakers will spend a maximum of three days away from home, 49% four to seven days, 21% eight to fifteen days, and the remaining 7% even longer. The majority will remain in Italy and almost 20% will stay within their own region, although there is an upturn in tourism abroad.

For those staying in Italy, it will be an opportunity to reopen second homes or the homes of friends and relatives, a solution chosen by 44% of holidaymakers. The others will opt for hotels, bed and breakfasts and farm holidays. Precisely in view of the holidays," Coldiretti notes, "agritourism structures have enriched their offerings with innovative services designed for sportsmen, lovers of traditions, the curious and ecologists, but also with cultural activities, as well as wellness and walking experiences. There is also no shortage of Christmas-related initiatives, such as cooking courses to learn how to prepare typical festive specialities.
