In addition to sectors such as ICT, microelectronics and innovative manufacturing, the Trentino innovation ecosystem also pays attention to the issue of sustainability.
A sensibility shared by the entire territory and which creates a favourable environment for start-ups such as Ruma. Founded in 2022 by four researchers and former researchers from the University of Trento, it wants to contribute to environmental protection and the fight against climate change through the use of advanced technologies and scientific expertise.
Its CEO, Angelica Pianegonda, is currently completing a doctorate in landscape architecture and forest ecology at the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Trento, and has many years of experience in r&s projects for the regeneration of urban and rural landscapes.
"We are very comfortable here, there is a very stimulating ecosystem and a start-up-friendly environment, which facilitates dialogue and collaboration," he says.
At a time when sustainability and environmental protection are terms that are very much in vogue but often used with little rigour, the start-up's strong point is its strongly scientific approach, focusing on data and the skills to interpret it correctly. Its offer is currently based on EcoSense, a monitoring platform based on the analysis of satellite images, which provides accurate and reliable information on the state of the environment. And on EcoSphere, another platform that allows companies to invest in local environmental regeneration projects, providing transparency and traceability of investments. "This makes it possible to enhance the company's commitment to sustainability and communicate the results achieved," notes Pianegonda. "The synergy between our two products offers comprehensive support for sustainable land management."
