A man has been wrongfully claiming his deceased mother’s pension for over ten years, and has also used the money to fund a business.
The Finance Police in Treviso have charged a 50-year-old man who for over ten years claimed his deceased mother’s pension, pocketing more than 230,000 euros from INPS.
The man held a joint bank account with the deceased and continued to withdraw money without reporting her death.

Investigations have established that part of the money was used to set up a company operating in the retail sale of sportswear and to pay suppliers, employing a series of tactics designed to hinder the tracing of the funds’ origin.
This is also with a view to avoiding detection, as far as possible.
The alleged conduct constitutes the offences of embezzlement and self-laundering.
