The appointments by US President-elect Donald Trump continue. At the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission (Sec), equivalent to the Italian Consob. Trump has appointed Paul Atkins. The former Sec commissioner will replace Gary Gensler in the role of chairman.

He is the founder of Draken International, a Florida-based company that trains pilots for the US military (the company operates one of the world's largest fleets of private fighter jets) and the founder and CEO of Shift4 Payments, a payments processor. As of September 2024, his estimated net worth was USD 1.9 billion.

On the same day 'The Donald' also announced in Truth the appointment of Peter Navarro as 'senior counselor' for trade and manufacturing. In his first presidency, Navarro, a true tariff hawk against China, had been the US Trade Representative. Daniel P. Driscoll is the Secretary of the Army. A former soldier, deployed in Iraq, and former policy advisor to Vice President Jd Vance, Driscoll has also worked in the venture capital industry. "He will be an unrelenting advocate for our soldiers and our agenda," the president-elect said in announcing the appointment.

On the diplomatic side, Trump appointed Adam Boehler as special envoy for the hostages, with the rank of ambassador. Boehler worked as a negotiator for the Abrahamic Accords during the tycoon's first administration. "He has negotiated with some of the toughest people in the world, including the Taliban, but Adam knows that no one is tougher than the United States of America, at least when President Trump is the leader," the president-elect wrote.
