Trump declares war on CNN, MSNBC and Politico: ‘Out of the White House’
After nearly two years of vitriol, accusations and insults on social media directed at all reporters, TV channels and American newspapers not aligned with his agenda, the President’s latest move is to ban CNN, MSNBC and Politico from the White House ‘with immediate effect’
Donald Trump has launched a new attack on the media and the First Amendment to the US Constitution, which guarantees freedom of the press.
After nearly two years of vitriol, accusations and insults on social media directed at all reporters, all TV channels and all American newspapers that do not toe his line, the President’s latest move is to ban CNN, MSNBC and Politico from the White House “with immediate effect”.
“The media should not be allowed to constantly write or report fabrications and lies when covering the President, the Trump administration or the United States of America,” the tycoon claimed in a post on Truth, without specifying what might have prompted this decision.
Most likely the polls published by media outlets that have been showing his approval ratings in steady decline for months. The tycoon has also threatened that other media outlets “spreading fake news” risk being shut down. This is not the first time since his return to the White House that the commander-in-chief has blacklisted a media outlet he considers “hostile”.
Donald Trump has cited other newspapers that he considers to be ‘fake news’, without, however, stating that he intends to ban them from the White House. “The New York Times is fake news, the Washington Post is fake news,” said the US president, adding that he would no longer allow those newspapers “into the house”.
