The Palestinian news agency Wafa reports that a child has died in the Al-Mawasi area of Rafah, in southern Gaza, as a result of injuries sustained after being struck by gunfire from the IDF. Media outlets in the Gaza Strip, citing X, report that nine people, including a woman, were injured in central Gaza. No further details have been provided regarding the exchange of fire. The IDF has not yet commented.

The Israeli army carried out an air strike on the village of Zibqin, in the Tyre district (in southern Lebanon), according to the state-run National News Agency. The agency also reported that Israeli forces opened fire with artillery on the villages of Al-Mansouri and Majdal Zoun and the adjacent valleys, and that several homes in Al-Mansouri were blown up. Last Thursday, Israeli forces had already bombed both villages as part of a wider advance towards the border towns, injuring at least two people.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has warned that any new attack against Iran would prompt Tehran to change the “geography” of the war and the means used to fight it, according to a statement carried by Iranian state media. The warning came amid rising tensions after Iran claimed to have information suggesting that the United States and its allies were preparing for a new large-scale attack. Iran’s Central Military Command stated yesterday that any such attack would trigger a prolonged retaliation against US bases and interests, and that Washington’s regional allies would be considered part of the conflict.

US President Donald Trump is determined to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and will continue to exert “maximum pressure” on Tehran. This was stated by the US Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz. In a post on X, Waltz added that the door remains open for Iran to return “to the negotiating table, if it does so in good faith”. The diplomat also published an extract from a speech he gave at an event organised in New York by Al-Monitor, in which he described the war waged by the United States and Israel against Iran as the continuation of a conflict that has lasted for 47 years.

US President Donald Trump has put a hold, at least for the time being, on a new campaign of attacks against the Houthis in Yemen after ordering the Pentagon to prepare the air strikes at the request of Saudi Arabia. This is reported by the New York Times, citing administration officials. According to the newspaper, for around two weeks Trump had been weighing up whether to accede to Saudi requests for US intervention against the Iranian-backed Yemeni movement, which has resumed attacks on the kingdom in recent months.

On Thursday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly rang Trump, asking him once again to intervene against the Houthis’ advance. The day before, the President had told his advisers that he was not in favour of the air strikes, but following the phone call he is said to have changed his position, ordering the Pentagon to prepare the attacks.

They’d better behave themselves.” US President Donald Trump said this to Fox News, adding that he was open to the possibility of a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
