Donald Trump extends the deadline for a deal on TikTok by a further 75 days. This was announced by the president on his social Truth. 'My administration is working hard to save TikTok and we have made tremendous progress,' Trump says.

"The agreement requires further work to ensure that all necessary approvals are signed. That is why I am signing an executive order to keep TikTok up and running for another 75 days,' says Trump who, shortly after his inauguration, had set a 75-day deadline for the sale of the US division of the popular app to avoid a ban on it in the US. The deadline would have expired on 5 April.

"We hope to continue to work in good faith with China, which, from what I understand, is not very happy about reciprocal tariffs (necessary for fair and balanced trade between the US and China). This confirms that tariffs are the most powerful economic tool, very important for national security. We don't want TikTok to be overshadowed,' Trump highlighted.

Bytedance: key issues to be resolved on Tiktok agreement

ByteDance is the Chinese company that owns the social. Without an agreement to sell to a US company, TikTok will be banned in the US for security reasons. In recent days, US media have reported that among the companies ready to buy TikTok would be Amazon.

"On the deal to sell TikTok there are still key issues to be resolved," said the Chinese company that owns the app after Donald Trump announced a 75-day deadline extension.
