Trump: Orsini’s remarks were inappropriate; industry continues to support the institutions

‘Italian industry, both today and tomorrow, will always stand by the Italian institutions and its Prime Minister, regardless of political affiliation. I believe this is important, given that ours is a Western democracy and we wish to remain allies at all times; I believe these statements are truly inappropriate.’ This was stated by Emanuele Orsini, president of Confindustria, from the podium at the Confindustria Asti general meeting in Nizza-Monferrato, in response to a question about Trump’s remarks, in which, amongst other things, he claimed that Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had begged him at the G7 summit for a photo with him.

In the current geopolitical climate, Orsini added, ‘from an industrial perspective, everything that is happening is having an impact on industrial costs. Unfortunately, we are at the mercy of the markets. I hope an agreement can be reached quickly.’
