Trump receives Fifa Peace Prize: 'Among the greatest honours of my life'

"It is one of the greatest honours of my life. I thank my family and my amazing First Lady Melania." This was said by US President Donald Trump as he received the "Fifa Peace Prize - Football Unites the World" from Fifa President Gianni Infantino on stage at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. The prize, awarded for the first time, went to the US president for performing "outstanding and extraordinary actions for peace, capable of uniting people around the world".

The 2026 World Cup has yet to begin but it is already a record for ticket sales, Trump announced to reporters as he arrived at the Kennedy Center with the Fifa president. More tickets have been sold 'than any other event, long before kick-off,' Trump explained.
