Trump torpedoes third minister: out goes Labor Secretary Chavez-DeRemer

After the former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and the former Attorney General Pam Bondi, US President Donald Trump torpedoed another minister: the Secretary of Labour Lori Chavez-DeRemer. This was reported on social media X by White House communications chief Steve Cheung. Chavez-DeRemer is leaving the Administration to take up a post in the private sector.

In his place, Keith Sonderling will take over as acting Secretary of Labour. According to sources quoted by some US media, Chavez-DeRemer has resigned. His tenure at the Department of Labour was marked by multiple scandals related to inappropriate conduct, including an alleged extramarital affair with a member of his security staff.

She was also accused of creating a toxic work environment, using public funds for personal travel and consuming alcohol in the office. Her husband, Shawn DeRemer, was banned from the Department of Labour headquarters following allegations of sexual harassment.
