Trump: I will fire Fed governor if she does not resign

"I'll fire her if she doesn't resign," so said President Donald Trump, referring to Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook, who was criticised for a practice on mortgage applications.

Cook was nominated by former President Joe Biden, as the first African-American woman to hold this position in the Central Bank, and Trump intends to push her to resign in order to install a governor who is his ally and in favour of cutting rates.

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell should have cut rates a year ago. Donald Trump said this, pointing out that it is too late for Powell to signal a reduction in the cost of money.
