Trump withdraws 700 ICE agents from Minnesota

The Trump administration will withdraw 'effective immediately' from Minnesota some 700 federal agents engaged in anti-immigrant operations. However, "about 2,000 ICE and Border Patrol agents" who continued to comb the city's streets yesterday will remain deployed in Minneapolis. The White House decision was announced by Tom Homan, the border czar sent by Trump to bring order to Minneapolis after ICE agents killed two American citizens. And after images of these killings and the Ice violence were spread all over social media contradicting the official government versions, which accused the victims of being 'subversives' and 'terrorists'. Homan explained that the withdrawal of some of the officers will be possible thanks to the 'unprecedented cooperation' of the elected sheriffs in Minnesota who run the jails. On the other hand, the clash between the Republican administration and the local, Democratic authorities continues: Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and the state governor Tim Walz do not stop asking ICE to leave.
Homan explained that he does not intend to move from Minneapolis until 'everything is completed', i.e. until the entire anti-immigrant operation launched in recent months, moving 3,000 federal agents to a state where there were no more than 150, is completed. "We have to remember that we have federal agents in charge of the fraud investigation, they will not move, they will finish their job," he added, referring to the investigation into fraud against the welfare system: a pretext used by Trump to attack the entire Somali community in Minnesota, and to justify raids and violence even against legal immigrants and protesters.
Ice's operation against immigrants in Minneapolis provoked violent clashes with residents, as well as outrage and street protests across the US. But the administration is not demurring. "Let me be clear: President Trump made a promise and he intends to achieve mass deportations during this administration, which is why," Homan said, "immigration enforcement actions will continue every day across the country.
