Donald Trump is back to attacking Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, accusing him of slowing down the US economy with excessive interest rates. In an official letter, the tycoon attached a comparison with the world's major central banks to show how US rates are, in his view, out of line. Spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt reiterated the criticism of Trump, who accused Powell of 'costing Americans a fortune'.
Already in the previous hours, interviewed by Fox News, Trump had stated that 'anyone would be better' than the current Fed chairman and that a replacement is already in his plans. According to rumours, among the names being considered are Kevin Warsh, former governor of the US central institution, the former head of the National Economic Council, Kevin Hassett, the Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, the former president of the World Bank, David Malpass, and Christopher Waller, current member of the Federal Reserve Board.
