Type 01, that's the name of the new electric Jaguar
The first 1,000 hp electric car has been christened following the naming scheme of the British marque's historic sports models. It will be unveiled by the end of this year and reach the market in the first half of 2027. A sedan and a battery-powered SUV will follow.
Type 01 is the name of the first model of a new era for the Jaguar brand. It is a 1,000 hp electric super GT. The new name introduces three significant elements: the Type name signifies that the new car is the heir to a lineage of iconic models for the British marque, such as the C-Type that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1951 and continuing as the D-Type and the E-Type and F-Type. Each of these historic Jaguar cars had qualities such as an engaging drive as well as refinement that in the Type 01 will have to coexist with an electric motor.
More variants on the way: an electric saloon and suv
The '0' represents the zero-emission powertrain and the '1' denotes its status as the first Jaguar of a new era. After all, it follows the Type 00, the concept, pink or blue, which has become one of the most discussed and criticised cars of recent years
The Type 01 will arrive on the market in the first half of 2027 after an 18-month hiatus from the last Jaguar in production, the F-Pace. The brand, therefore, is relaunching itself with an exclusive, luxury-oriented model as well as one priced above the cars previously in the range. There is talk of price lists that should range from around 140,000 to over 170,000 euros. Further details on the other variants have not yet been announced, although there was earlier talk of a saloon and an SUV based on Jaguar's JEA electric car architecture. Will they be called Type 02 and Type 03?
