EU: Meloni and Frederiksen say no to uncontrolled immigration; policy must be strict
"Setting up repatriation centres in third countries"
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - "We do not accept uncontrolled immigration into Europe, and we have promoted a strict migration policy, both in our own countries and across Europe". This was stated in a joint message for Europe posted on social media by the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, and her Danish counterpart, Mette Frederiksen, in a joint message for Europe shared on social media, adding that “no one can deny the negative impacts of illegal immigration on our societies: rising crime rates, increasing pressure on public services and an erosion of public trust. Together – the message reads – we have succeeded in shifting the balance in the application of the European Convention on Human Rights with regard to foreign nationals who commit serious crimes. Consequently, deportations should now increase.” It is now time, they add, to “set up repatriation centres in third countries, as well as other innovative solutions outside Europe. We are working hard on this”.
