"Precariousness, poor social and economic recognition, and work that often does not conform to the tasks stipulated in the contract. What the Ata personnel are experiencing in the Italian school is a condition of real emergency. It is from the recognition of their work that the Uil Scuola Rua intends to conduct its line of union action". Secretary General Giuseppe D'Aprile said this during the demonstration in Naples organised by Uil Scuola Rua Campania at the I.S.Sannino De Cillis. "Months later, the reasons that led the Uil Scuola Rua Federation, not to sign the 2019-21 Ccnl, are fully confirmed - he continued - We reminded the politicians present belonging to the government and the opposition that Ata staff deserve rights, not concessions, because they represent a fundamental resource of the school. The time has come to recognise their value, also from a contractual point of view. Moreover, at the sound of the bell, the precariousness of Ata staff amounts to about 50,000, a number that, together with that of teachers, increases the precariousness of school work in Italy, which is unique in the panorama of public employment'. For D'Aprile 'answers are needed on salaries, staffing levels and new professional regulations. The next contract renewal is the right opportunity to find in the negotiation the enhancement of school staff through organic interventions both economic and regulatory, also with a view to improving the various legal institutions of the previous contract. It is time to stop and reschedule,' he concluded, 'The school in this country is too precious an asset and must be treated as such'.
