A new step towards the long-awaited common European defence: more than nine European countries, including Italia, have formed a coalition aimed at developing a missile defence shield for Europe
Ukrainian drone strikes have killed four people and injured seven others in Russia, three of whom were in the Moscow region, according to local authorities.
“In the town of Pionerski, in Istra, three people were killed and three others were injured when a drone crashed,” wrote Andrei Vorobiov, governor of the Moscow Region, on Telegram. He added that two more people were injured in Solnechnogorsk, where “a drone struck a residential building”. According to the governor, 81 drones were shot down in the region overnight.
In the Belgorod region, on the border with Ukraine, a woman died when a drone dropped an explosive device in the town of Beriozovka, and two men were injured in Krinitchnoie when another unmanned aerial vehicle exploded, local authorities said in a statement.
Kallas: new EU sanctions, 250 Russians targeted
Today, “we hope” that the Foreign Affairs Council will approve the inclusion of “250” people on the EU’s sanctions lists in connection with the war in Ukraine, whilst “there is still no agreement on the 21st sanctions package”. This was stated by the EU’s High Representative, Kaja Kallas, in Brussels on the sidelines of the ministers’ meeting. Regarding the 21st package, “there are still outstanding issues, but we are working towards an agreement”, she concluded.
EU-UK agreement: London to contribute to a 90 billion euro loan for Kyiv
The United Kingdom and the European Union have signed an agreement for London to participate in the EU’s €90 billion loan to Ukraine. They announced this in a joint statement. The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, also announced the news in a post on X, accompanied by a photo of her shaking hands with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. “Signed! The agreement paving the way for the UK to join our €90 billion loan in support of Ukraine. This will allow Ukraine to access a wider range of defence suppliers. In this way, it will be able to procure what it needs on the battlefield. Together, we are supporting Ukraine’s courageous resistance,” wrote von der Leyen.
