The Kirishi oil refinery in the Russian Leningrad area was targeted by Ukrainian drones. The attack, Ukrinform's website explains, was confirmed by the commander of the Ukrainian Drone Forces, Robert Brovdi, on Telegram. The Kirishi oil refinery is located more than 800 km from the Ukrainian border and is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia. The commander explained that the refinery is among the top five in the country and specialises in the production of high-octane petrol and all types of fuel, with an annual production of 20 million tonnes. The attack took place last night and was conducted by units of the Drone Forces (14th regiment) and Special Operations Forces.

The UkrainskaPravda website published pictures of some explosions at the refinery, explaining that the Kirishi plant supplies a significant share of Russian oil needs and is a key element of the country's energy infrastructure. The governor of Leningrad Province, Alexander Drozdenko, said that three drones were shot down over the city of Kirishi, but their debris caused a fire in the plant premises. He added, however, that the fire was quickly extinguished and that there were no casualties.

Media: Kiev attack on Russian railway infrastructure

Ukraine conducted an operation to block the Russian railway link along the Orël-Kursk route. According to sources of the Main Intelligence Directorate in Kiev, quoted by Ukrinform, following the destruction of the facility, two 'Russian guards' were eliminated and another had his legs amputated. Yesterday, Russian railway employees discovered unknown mines on the Maloarkhangelsk-Glazunovka railway line. The Russians called a team of engineers from the special unit of the Russian Guard to the site. However, during the unsuccessful mine clearance, an explosion occurred, resulting in the death of two 'Russian Guards' and the injury of another.

Kiev: Russian communication centre in Sevastopol hit

The Ukrainian Navy also attacked a communication centre of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in occupied Sevastopol earlier this week, the Navy reported on 14 September. This was reported by the Kiev Independent. According to the statement, the communication centre, which is responsible for coordinating the operations of Russian Black Sea Fleet units, was located at the site of the 184th research and testing centre. The attack reportedly took place on the night of 11 September. The Navy published some photos allegedly showing the aftermath of the attack.

Sevastopol has been the base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet since before the occupation of Crimea in 2014. Repeated Ukrainian attacks with naval drones, missiles and long-range drones have forced the Kremlin to reduce its naval presence on the peninsula. Ukraine destroyed several Russian vessels, including the landing ship Caesar Kunikov, the patrol ship Sergei Kotov, the missile corvette Ivanovets and several high-speed landing craft. The reduction of the Russian presence in Sevastopol comes as Ukraine intensifies drone attacks against other Black Sea Fleet bases. On 6 July, drones struck fleet facilities in Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Territory, a key port east of Crimea across the Kerch Strait.

Russian drone trespasses in Romania

.

NATO fighters are stepping up their vigilance on the eastern front where, after the alarm of Russian drones trespassing in Poland had died down, a new incident occurred last night. A Russian unmanned aircraft entered Romania's airspace. Allied fighters followed it until it "disappeared from radar"..

The drone penetrated about 20 kilometres into Romania's airspace in the Tulcea region on the border with Ukraine, as far as the town of Chilia Veche, and then disappeared from the radar of the Romanian F-16s that flew up from the Fetesti base to follow it. NATO also mobilised two German Eurofighters deployed in Romania. The Ministry of Defence later clarified that the drone did not fly over populated areas and did not pose a threat.

"Due to the threat of Russian drones operating over Ukraine near the border with Poland, a preventive operation of Polish and allied forces has begun," Prime Minister Donald Tusk said. Lublin airport was closed to air traffic for about two hours until the defence declared the alert over. But in Swidnik and Chelm, alarm sirens rang out and in five districts of the country bordering Ukraine, a government crisis unit sent text messages to residents' mobile phones warning of the 'danger of an attack from the air'.

Bucharest: Moscow's new Black Sea challenge

Romania has strongly condemned the entry of a Russian drone into its airspace, saying Moscow's actions represent a 'new challenge' to Black Sea security. Bucharest "strongly condemns the irresponsible actions of the Russian Federation and stresses that they pose a new challenge to security and regional stability in the Black Sea area," the defence ministry said in a statement, adding that "such incidents demonstrate the Russian Federation's lack of respect for international law."

Kallas: Russian drone escalation threatens security

"The violation of Romanian airspace by Russian drones constitutes yet another unacceptable violation of the sovereignty of an EU member state. This continued reckless escalation threatens regional security. We stand in solidarity with Romania. I am in close contact with the Romanian government'. This was stated by EU High Representative Kaja Kallas.

Von der Leyen, Russian incursion into Romania a serious threat to stability

"The Russian incursion into Romanian airspace is once again a blatant violation of EU sovereignty and a serious threat to the stability of the region". European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen writes this on X. "We are working closely with Romania and the member states to protect the territory of the EU." "We stand in solidarity with Romania," she adds in Romanian.

Estonia will allocate 100 million to Ukraine in 2026

.

"Estonia will continue to support Ukraine in next year's war of aggression against Russia with determination, allocating 0.25 per cent of GDP to it, amounting to a total of about EUR 100 million." This was announced by Estonian Defence Minister Hanno Pevkur during a two-day visit to Kiev. Pevkur specified that a large part of the funding will be used to supply Ukraine with Estonian-made armaments and provide IT assistance in the defence field. The minister added that, as has been the case over the past two years, the type and quantity of armaments needed will be agreed with Kiev on the basis of the latter's concrete needs.
