Magyar is not Orban: 'firm condemnation of assault in Transcarpathia'. Rubio: 'US the only mediator between Moscow and Kiev', but Russian bombs continue. The death toll in Kiev rises to 16, including 2 children

Budapest summoned the Russian ambassador following the massive drone attack that took place near Hungary's border with Ukraine, marking a sharp change of tone by new Prime Minister Péter Magyar towards Moscow after years of cordial relations with the Kremlin under former Hungarian leader Viktor Orban.
The ambassador, Evgeny Stanislavov, is expected to arrive at the Foreign Ministry around noon to speak with Hungarian Foreign Minister Anita Orban about the attacks that hit the Ukrainian region of Transcarpathia on Wednesday. The region is home to a sizeable Hungarian minority. "The Hungarian government stronglycondemns the Russian attack on Transcarpathia," Magyar said during a press conference in Ópusztaszer, southern Hungary, announcing the call. "You will tell him the same thing and ask for information on when Russia and Vladimir Putin intend to end this bloody war that started more than four years ago," the premier added. The Russian government made no public statement on the summons.
Rubio: "US the only mediator between Moscow and Kiev"
"The United States hopes that Moscow and Kiev will soon resume dialogue to reach a solution to the conflict in Ukraine. This was said by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with Fox News. "We hope to get to a point soon where both sides resume dialogue," Rubio said.
The secretary of state added that Washington is ready to continue to play a mediation role to end the conflict. "I think we are the only country in the world capable of doing that. If someone else wants to try, do it. But both sides insist that, in the end, we are the only ones that can do it,' Rubio continued.
The war continues and the civilian casualties
Firefights and bombs, however, show no signs of slowing down.
