Trump: very disappointed with Putin, hope we don't have to use nuclear weapons
US envoy Kellogg: Putin in his heart knows he will not win. Zelensky: Zaporizhzhia power plant in emergency for 7 days
'We need to settle this with President Putin and Zelensky. We have to bring them together and get it over with,' Donald Trump said on the war in Ukraine, in front of US military summits gathered in Quantico, Virginia. Trump added: 'The only way to do that is through force. I mean, if we were weak, they wouldn't even answer my call." The president added that Biden's weakness "paved the way" for Putin to get in. Trump went on to say that he thought it would be easy to resolve this conflict given his knowledge of Putin, but 'it was much more difficult'. The US president admitted that he was very disappointed with Putin and on the subject of nuclear bombs and the threats coming from Russia, Trump said that 'frankly if it comes to the point of using them, we have more of them than anybody else, better, newer ones, but it's something I don't even want to think about'. 'We were threatened a little bit by Russia recently,' he continued, 'and I sent a submarine, a nuclear submarine, the deadliest weapon ever made. Number one, you cannot locate it, we are 25 years ahead of China and Russia on submarines."
"Ready for war also in the country"
.Donald Trump harangued some 800 American generals who had arrived from all over the world at the Quantico base and warned that the armed forces' priorities have changed under him: the invasion of US territory is the number one problem. "Even the one on the borders and in the cities is a war," The Donald told an audience that, in the tycoon's words, was the quietest he has ever addressed. "America is under invasion from within and it's no different than a foreign enemy, but in many ways it's more difficult because they don't wear uniforms. When they do wear them you can take them out,' the president admonished, addressing the highest military brass who had come from places of conflict and wars somewhat different from those to which Trump referred.
The truth is that, according to several officials told the Washington Post, many generals are frustrated with the Pentagon's new course and particularly dislike this new strategy's emphasis on threats at home, while China continues to strengthen militarily, as well as a downsizing of the US role in Europe and Africa.
In an hour-long speech, Secretary Hegseth attacked the department's 'woke drift' and the 'decades of decline' it has experienced. He warned female soldiers that if they do not reach 'male standards' they will not be able to fight and even threatened to fire 'fat' servicemen, a word that is now, at least in American society, considered an insult and hardly ever used.
