Ukraine orders the evacuation of over 7,000 civilians in the Kharkiv region

Ukrainian authorities have ordered the evacuation of more than 7,000 civilians from several towns in the Kharkiv region, on the border with Russia in the northeast of the country, a sign of fears of a Russian advance. "Given the security situation and the systematic enemy attacks, we are expanding the mandatory evacuation zone," regional governor Oleg Synegubov said on Telegram.
Overnight, Russian forces launched a massive attack against Ukrainian defence industry installations. Seventeen people were killed, while rescuers are still digging through the rubble.In Dnipro, where a three-storey building was hit, the bodies of a woman and an eight-year-old boy were recovered from the rubble, bringing the death toll to 11. This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda citing local authorities. Another 37 people were injured. In Kiev the number of people killed rose to 6 with 65 injured. Firefighters are still busy putting out fires in six different areas of the capital.
The attack was disclosed by the Russian Ministry of Defence, as reported by the Russian Tass agency. "Tonight, in response to the Kiev regime's terrorist attacks, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive attack using long-range precision-guided weapons, deployed in the air, land and naval spheres, including hypersonic aero-ballistic missiles and drones, targeting defence industry facilities in Kiev, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk, as well as in the regions of Poltava, Khmelnytsky and Sumy, as well as Ukrainian fuel and transport infrastructure used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and military airports," the statement said, which stressed that all targets were reached and the designated targets were hit.

During the attack the Ukrainian air defences shot down 642 aircraft out of 729 launched. This was stated by the Ukrainian Air Force quoted by Ukrainska Pravda. In total, Ukrainian air surveillance troops detected 729 aircraft, specifically 73 missiles and 656 drones of various types.
