Ukraine: Zelensky says we will resume attacks on Russian refineries; criticism of Starlink (FT)
A deliberate slowdown. Trump believes Putin will remain in power for a long time
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Ukraine will resume attacks on Russian oil refineries. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with the Financial Times. Zelenskyy stated that he had suspended attacks on energy infrastructure for three days to comply with US requests, whilst Moscow continued to strike Kyiv’s infrastructure and kill civilians. The president criticised the US for withholding intelligence information in support of Ukraine, such as early-warning alerts about missile attacks – although the US attributed this to a technical fault – and emphasised that Starlink had slowed down services across the country, hampering Ukrainian operations on the front line and medium-range attacks on Russian military bases. Zelensky rejected the suggestion that a technical fault was behind the slowdowns: “It was not a technical problem, but a deliberate choice.”
In the interview, Zelensky also spoke about the Trump–Putin relationship: the US president, he said, claims
"He says openly and loudly that he loves these people and respects them. Because, in his view, people who manage to stay in power for 20, 30 or 40 years must, by definition, be very strong."
