Ukraine: Zelenskyy condemns Russian attacks on airports, saying ‘Moscow is obstructing diplomacy’
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has condemned the Russian attacks that struck the two airports in Kyiv last night, seeing them as an attempt to hinder the visit of the envoys sent by his American counterpart, Donald Trump.
“It is clear that these Russian attacks on airports are a reaction to the discussions and preparations regarding the possibility of the American delegation travelling to Ukraine by air and landing at Kyiv or Boryspil airports,” Zelenskyy said.
“The Russian-Iranian ‘Shaheds’ (drones, ed.) in response to US diplomacy,” the Ukrainian leader summarised on his X profile. “We have taken note of this Russian move and next week we will adjust our operations accordingly with regard to Russian airspace, which has become dangerous due to the presence of our drones and missiles in the skies. Naturally, on our part, there are no threats to diplomacy, nor will there be any. Ukraine is keen to bring about peace. Russia will be held to account for its actions.”
