A United Airlines flight that had departed from Newark, New Jersey, bound for Palma de Mallorca in Spain, was forced to turn back due to a suspicious Bluetooth speaker.
The alarm was raised by a passenger who found a device called “Bomb” in the contacts list on his smartphone.

According to US media reports, there were 190 passengers and 12 crew members on board the aircraft. The pilots turned back whilst flying over the Atlantic approximately one hour after take-off, following an instruction from air traffic control.
The plane was diverted back to Newark and taken to a remote stand away from the terminal.
The passengers were taken to the terminal and subjected to a further security check.
