Institutions, universities and businesses help young people explore future careers
Following the success of the first edition, which attracted over 16,000 participants, three days will be dedicated, from 3 to 5 November, to careers guidance and exploring future study pathways and professions, bringing together young people, institutions, universities, businesses and the world of education.
From 3 to 5 November 2026, MIND – Milano Innovation District will once again host OrientaTalenti, the event dedicated to educational, training and career guidance for young people, organised by the Lombardy Region, AEF Lombardia, ITS Lombardia, JoinUs and the Regional Education Office.
The expansion
Following the success of the first edition, which attracted 16,000 participants, OrientaTalenti is being extended to three days this year. The initiative is not presented as a traditional careers fair, but as a venue where students, families and teachers can meet directly with schools, universities, research centres, ITS Academy, businesses and institutions to gain first-hand insight into study pathways and the professions of the future. The underlying idea is that it is only by meeting a professional or a company, experiencing the practical work of a craftsperson or engaging with a researcher and technology, that a young person can truly explore the world of work and make informed choices about their future.
“Career guidance outside the classroom: turning it into an experience”
“We are increasingly convinced that careers guidance must move beyond the classroom and become a hands-on experience, so as to bring young people into contact with those who work, conduct research, innovate and create new opportunities every day. To achieve this, schools, training organisations, universities, businesses and institutions must establish an ongoing dialogue,” emphasises Diego Montrone, Chairman of Galdus and head of ATS OrientaTalenti. “With OrientaTalenti, we wanted to create precisely this link and open up a space for interaction, where the aspirations and talents of every young person can be tested against reality and transformed into concrete opportunities for success – not just professional success.”
A large laboratory
This is why the event is not intended as a one-off occasion, but represents the culmination of a process that began in March with a series of pre-orientation activities in schools and across the Lombardy region. In November, for three days, MIND – the district where research, innovation, training and business coexist on a daily basis – will instead become a vast laboratory of discovery, featuring a packed programme of workshops, conferences, hands-on sessions and much more, made possible thanks to the support and commitment of a extensive network of companies, universities, healthcare facilities and other organisations within the sector that have enthusiastically joined the project.
The event in figures
The OrientaTalenti programme is organised into six broad areas – sport, Made in Italy, technology, life sciences, art and culture, and economics – which are explored through 160 career guidance activities and ‘Pillole di futuro’ workshops, designed to help young people discover the various study and career paths available. In addition to these, there are 40 conferences featuring representatives from government ministries, institutions, academia and the business sector, as well as 22 company tours to explore local businesses in the district. The programme is rounded off by practical workshops, meetings with professionals and experts, and guided tours. Morning sessions will be primarily dedicated to students, whilst the afternoons will be devoted to teacher training, with teachers eligible for a ministerial exemption from teaching duties.
