University accommodation: the new Mur platform is now online

The website https://housinguniversitario.mur.gov.it/, the Ministry of Universities and Research’s new platform on university accommodation, is now online. The new portal, developed in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Turin, was launched today in Milan by Minister Anna Maria Bernini.

The website provides students and families with an interactive map to locate university accommodation facilities and initiatives, view their key features and find their way around when searching for accommodation. Through infographics, data and indicators, it is also possible to gain an understanding of the distribution and outcomes of the main public measures relating to university housing, ranging from initiatives funded under Law 338/2000 to those implemented as part of the PNRR.

Under the Ministry of Universities and Research’s (MUR) Housing Plan, over 63,200 beds have been made available nationwide, exceeding the PNRR target of 60,000 new beds for university students. The new platform allows users to view their distribution across the country and to access information on the initiatives in a simple and immediate manner.
“In recent years,” said the Minister for Universities and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, “we have worked to increase the number of beds and, with the Housing Plan, we have exceeded the PNRR target, making over 63,200 available. At the same time, we have continued to invest in national schemes, such as Law 338, to build new halls of residence and refurbish existing ones. We have also focused on the quality of university halls of residence. A hall of residence is not just accommodation: it is a place where you live, study, meet other people and grow. Today we are taking a further step to make it easier to find information. With the new MUR platform on housing, students and families will be able to find out about halls of residence across the country, navigate the available options and gain a clearer picture of how the supply of university accommodation in Italia is growing.”
