Innovation, lots of it, and quality education that keeps an eye on trends, companies, the international scenario, the labour market and job placement, but also sustainability and ongoing transitions. With the new academic year just around the corner, universities are measuring themselves against the challenges of our times, and the education on offer is adapting between innovative, highly-qualifying courses and a few curiosities. Here is some of the news from the universities.
New educational offerings
Sustainability is at the heart of Sapienza's new educational offering. An important part of the university's proposal is the training course "The Sustainability Sciences: the cultural, ecological and digital transition", a subject that from next year will also be a teaching subject, becoming part of the curricular curriculum for students.
Rieti
New developments for the new academic year include the opening of the Medicine and Surgery course at the Rieti campus and the 'Law, Administration and Management of Cultural Heritage' master's degree course. In addition, an English-language master's degree course in 'Design, Territory, Identity and Cultural Assets' has been set up in cooperation with the Universities of Lisbon and Malaga, and a course in 'Biomedical Science and Techniques of Motor Activities' has been established in cooperation with the University of Rome Foro Italico.
Luiss
Artificial intelligence is at the heart of the Luiss Guido Carli novelties. Alongside the launch of the new three-year degree course in Management and Artificial Intelligence, which responds to the growing need for experts in AI, the chair in "AI & Climate Change" in collaboration with Engineering is also starting up: the first innovative academic course at European level on the opportunities of Artificial Intelligence to cope with climate change, with the aim of strengthening the green and tech skills needed to cope with the complexities of a rapidly changing environmental, technological and social ecosystem. That's not all: AI workshops will become compulsory for all degree courses, and master's students will be able to obtain an 'AI Literacy' certificate. Attention to the subject is also demonstrated by the appointment of the pro-rector for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Skills, Giuseppe Italiano, in the rector's team led by the new rector Paolo Boccardelli. Other Luiss novelties include the new three-year degree course in Global Law and the new master's degree course in Strategic Management, Innovation & Sustainability.
Alma Mater
Artificial intelligence is again the focus of the Alma Mater's English-language master's degree course. Among the highly innovative courses offered by the Alma Mater is in fact "Science of Climate", designed to train climate change experts. New additions for the coming academic year include the Master's degree in English in "Global cultures" in Bologna and the Master's degree in Nautical Engineering in Forlì, the latter of which is structured in close connection with local companies and institutions to train engineers specialised in the design and production of pleasure boats.
