Aspiring white coats can now try their hand at the new Medicine entrance test. Since Sunday 5 May, the open database wanted by the Mur with the first 3,500 questions to be used in preparation for the national test scheduled on 28 May has been available online. By connecting to the website https://accessoprogrammato.mur.gov.it/2024/, it is possible to consult the entire database and attempt the quiz simulation. In July, at the same address, the other 3,500 questions will also arrive in view of the second 'window' scheduled for 30 July.
The open database
.Recalling that the Minister of Universities, Anna Maria Bernini, has decided to return in 2024 to the national paper-based medicine test in place of the online Tolc managed by the Cisia consortium that was staged in 2023, here we try to summarise the options that the user will have when connecting to the incoming database.
In addition to viewing all 3,500 questions (from which the 60 that will then make up the quiz on 28 May will be extracted), the aspiring white coat (or even the ordinary citizen) will be able to choose to filter the questions by one of the five categories provided or do a keyword search. If they wish, they will also be able to take a facsimile quiz that will be corrected and evaluated by artificial intelligence. The database, as mentioned several times, will be open and, therefore, no registration will be required.
The encore in July
The same opportunity will be repeated in a couple of months. At the beginning of July, by logging onto the same web page, it will be possible to find out the second set of 3,500 questions for the 30 July session. In total, we would like to remind you, there are 61,000 students enrolled in the Medicine entrance test.
The test structure
.The quiz that aspiring white coats will face in May and July will consist of 60 questions (four on reading skills and knowledge acquired in studies, five on logical reasoning and problems, 23 on biology, 15 on chemistry and 13 on physics and mathematics) with 100 minutes to answer. Each correct answer will be worth 1.5 points, wrong answers 0.4 points and omissions zero. A minimum of 20 points will be required to be admitted to the ranking list. Ranking will be on 10 September.
The upcoming reform
As we have reported several times in recent weeks from 2025/26 the system is expected to change again. The unified text drawn up by the Senate education committee's select committee delegates the government to issue one or more legislative decrees to make enrolment in medicine (and a second course in a related subject that acts as a 'parachute') free for the first semester and moves the filter to the second semester. But the process to get there has only just begun; the next step will be 13 May for the submission of any amendments.
