Urso: convene companies on 9 April, adjust fuel prices immediately
If the newly announced agreement on the conflict has resulted in a 'significant and immediate' reduction in the cost of international gas, this price reduction must also be seen immediately in the national distribution network
"I have convened tomorrow afternoon (Thursday 9 April, ndr) the four big fuel distribution companies so that there is an understanding that the price adjustment must be immediate.
This was stated by the Minister of Enterprise, Adolfo Urso, at a press conference at Mimit, answering a question on the consequences of the truce in the Middle East on the prices of diesel and petrol.
If the newly announced agreement on the conflict has resulted in a 'significant and immediate' reduction in the cost of international gas, this price reduction must also be seen immediately in the national distribution network, Urso adds.
Cooperative Alliance: insufficient measures so far
"The cost of fuel, permanently over EUR 2 per litre with dynamics increasingly disconnected from objective factors, is bringing haulage to its knees.
Fuel weighs between 30% and 35% of operating costs: the current increase completely wipes out margins. The measures taken so far are inadequate: excise duty reductions of very limited duration, an inadequate 100 million fund, reimbursements with timeframes of up to 60 days incompatible with liquidity needs'.
