US: Case-Shiller – house prices in the 20 largest cities up 2.1 per cent year-on-year in June; estimates at 1.7 per cent
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - In June, US house prices continued to rise. The S&P Case-Shiller index, which tracks house prices across 20 major cities, recorded an annual rise of 2.1 per cent, compared with expectations of a 1.7 per cent increase. The index tracking house prices nationwide rose by 1.52 per cent, whilst the index for the 10 major cities rose by 2.94 per cent. Month-on-month increases were: +0.37 per cent for the national index, +0.43 per cent for the 20 cities, and +0.52 per cent for the 10 cities. Chicago recorded the highest annual increase amongst the 20 cities, rising by 6.9 per cent, followed by New York and Cleveland with annual increases of 4.8 per cent and 4.1 per cent respectively. Seattle recorded the lowest performance in June, falling by 2 per cent.
