US: industrial production up 0.7 per cent in September; estimates at 0.4 per cent

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - US industrial production rose by 0.7 per cent month-on-month in September, against estimates of a 0.4 per cent increase, following a 0.1 per cent rise in August (revised from the initial 0.0 per cent). Year-on-year, the figure stood at +2.8%. Manufacturing output rose by 0.3%, in line with expectations. The mining sector index rose by 0.2% and the utilities sector index by 3.5%. The total Input Process (IP) index in September stood at 104 per cent of the average since 2017, representing a 2.2 per cent increase compared with the level recorded at the start of the year. The capacity utilisation rate rose to 76.9 per cent, 2.5 percentage points below the long-term average (1972–2025).
